Welcome,
For centuries, women have been supporting other women through the end of pregnancy, childbirth, and beyond. However, this tradition has been lost over the past century when childbirth got moved into hospitals and much of the natural techniques and comforts became lost amid technology and medication. Creating times where women were no longer pampered, and left to care only for their babies during the immediate postpartum period. The past few decades, women have been regaining back some of what has been lost for so long. Many women have introduced doulas into their birthing team to help them on their journey.
Doula is derived from the Greek word, meaning "Woman's servant". In modern terms, it is a woman who helps provide, physical, emotional, and informational support to another woman in need during childbirth and through the postpartum period. A doulas responsibilities are as varried and uniqe as the women we serve. Changing and shifting to meet the laboring or postpartum mothers needs.
As a doula in the Tulsa, OK area, I
strive to give women back their voice. Whether you are wanting a
natural birth, or a medical birth. At home or in the hospital. I want
all mother's to have the birth that's right for them. As a postpartum doula I hope to allow families to explore their new dynamics, lessening the stress on them to recover before their time. You can enjoy your "Baby-moon". It doesn't have to be a time of stress and panic. I striving to help them have a birth experience that they can look back on
with pride, and a sense of fulfillment and peace.
